Maglione, Neidhardt and Associates specialize in psycho-educational evaluations, advocacy, and counseling services with children/students ages 2 to 25.  Adult testing and counseling is also available.  

 

Our School Psychologists are certified and licensed which means that they are familiar with the Florida Department of Education criteria for Special Education, as well as the DSM-5-TR.  We also complete evaluations for college students who are in need of accommodations for the SAT/ACT or college/university.

What is a CPT?

The Conners Continuous Performance Test (CPT) is a widely used computerized assessment tool designed to evaluate sustained attention, impulsivity, and response inhibition—key areas often affected in individuals with attention-related disorders such as ADHD.

Continuous Performance Tests (CPTs) can help with ADHD medication in several ways:

  1. Assessing Baseline Performance – Before starting medication, a CPT can measure attention, impulsivity, and response consistency to establish a baseline of cognitive functioning.

  2. Monitoring Medication Effectiveness – By comparing pre- and post-medication CPT results, doctors can objectively evaluate whether the medication improves focus, reduces impulsivity, and enhances sustained attention.

  3. Determining Optimal Dosage – Different dosages of ADHD medication can have varying effects. A CPT can help determine the most effective dose by measuring performance under different conditions.

  4. Identifying Side Effects or Overmedication – If a person becomes overly sedated or shows excessive impulsivity, their CPT performance may decline, signaling a need for dosage adjustment.

  5. Tracking Long-Term Progress – Regular CPTs over time can help monitor whether the medication remains effective or if adjustments are needed.

 

CPTs are not a standalone diagnostic tool but can be a valuable part of a comprehensive ADHD treatment plan. 

What is the ADOS-2?

 

 

The Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule, Second Edition (ADOS-2) is a standardized, semi-structured assessment tool used by clinicians to diagnose Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). It is widely recognized as a gold-standard diagnostic instrument for autism evaluation across different age groups and developmental levels.

Insurance companies often require standardized assessments like the ADOS-2 to determine eligibility for autism-related services, such as ABA therapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy, and other interventions. However, coverage policies can vary based on the insurance provider, state laws, and specific plan details.How Insurance Companies Use ADOS-2 Results:

 

1. Diagnostic Confirmation – Many insurers require an autism diagnosis using standardized tools like the ADOS-2 along with other assessments (e.g., parent interviews, medical evaluations) before approving services.

2. Medical Necessity – Insurers often use the ADOS-2 results to justify whether autism-related therapies are medically necessary.

3. Service Approvals – Some therapies, such as Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), require formal documentation of ASD, which the ADOS-2 helps provide.

4. Re-Evaluations & Continued Coverage – Some insurers may require periodic re-evaluations to confirm the ongoing need for treatment.
